With a rise in interest regarding Noah FC, or more correctly, FC Noah, we thought we would take a deep dive into the club. FC Noah, often simply referred to as Noah, are an Armenian football club who play in the country’s Premier League. At this point, you might be wondering why the club are gathering attention across Europe. As well as explaining the reason for this, we will provide some more details about this rather interesting club.
A Fascinating Story
Formed in 2017, Noah are a very, very young club, but they have experienced plenty in this short time. Since their foundation, the Armenian side has moved city and stadium on more than one occasion, changed their crest and swapped owners three times. They have even changed their name, having originally been called FC Artsakh. The replacement name is a reference to Noah (of Ark fame), whose boat, it is written, came to rest on the Mountains of Ararat. An unusual name for a football club, but less so given that Armenia is an extremely Christian country.
Despite their youth, FC Noah took little time to make an impression on Armenian football. After securing promotion in 2019, they went on to finish runner-up in the Armenian Premier League and claimed the Armenian Cup in the 2019/20 season. Another runner-up finish came the following year but there would be no settling for second best in 2024/25 as Noah comfortably won the Armenian Premier League. This completed the Armenian double, as they also lifted the main cup competition for the second time.
Clearly, Noah have been performing well domestically but it was not their performances in Armenia which got them noticed. Instead, it was their performances in European competitions which first really brought them to the attention of lots of fans outside the country. In 2024/25, they became the first team ever to reach the league phase of the Conference League having started from the first qualifying round. Their final qualifier saw them dump out Greek side AEK Athens, in what was one of the biggest qualification shocks.
Noah’s Rising Popularity
As impressive an achievement as qualifying for the Conference League was, this is not the sort of thing that tends to get noticed much. Real attention came later in the competition when they lost 8-0 to Chelsea. It remains the heaviest defeat recorded in the Conference League since the competition was founded in 2021. In response to the defeat, a leading Noah fan account posted, “what did you all really expect to happen against one of the best teams in the world…and a squad valued 124 times higher than ours?” What indeed.
They later gained even more social media traction after Chelsea won the Conference League. In a post they said “Congratulations to Chelsea FC for winning the UEFA Conference League. However, you won a much more important trophy this season, the friends you made along the way, especially the ones in Armenia.” On X, this post gathered 2.1M views and over 100k likes.

That very account now has 22k followers on X, which is substantial for an unofficial account representing an Armenian Premier League side. To give you some reference as to how little-known Armenian football is on the continent, they sit one place above Moldova, and one place behind Iceland in the UEFA coefficients at the time of writing.
Here We Go – Opening of New Training Base Captures Global Attention
On 18th May 2026, FC Noah announced the completion of a European-level training base, as well as a building intended for the first team staff and administrative departments. Ordinarily, this would not have captured much attention in the footballing world but it ended up being shared by Fabrizio Romano on his main channel.
In the post, Romano also mentioned that Luis Figo was present at the ceremony (we’ll cover why shortly) as well as some of their ambitious future plans. He finished the post by saying FC Noah are a club the footballing world will keep hearing about. On Instagram, the post has so far gathered over 6 million plays and more than 200k likes. This has done wonders to increase FC Noah’s profile and their official Instagram account now has over 53k followers. By comparison, FC Pyunik, the most successful team in Armenia, has roughly half of this.
The Luis Figo Connection
Luis Figo attending the opening of an Armenian club’s new training ground is not something you would ordinarily expect to see but the Portuguese legend has strong ties to Noah. Owner Vardges Vardanyan said: “Luis Figo was one of the first to support my vision of building this project. He believed in the programme’s success and offered his willingness to assist in key areas. We are friends and often discuss the club’s development, with Figo providing valuable advice.”
An unlikely friendship, perhaps, but it is clear the project interests Figo and he is willing to share his expertise to better the club.
What Next for Noah?

In the 2025/26 season, Noah set two significant records. Firstly, they became the first Armenian club to qualify for the main stage of a European club competition for the second year in a row. They also became the first club in Armenian history to reach the playoff stage of a European tournament. At this point, they even managed to win the home leg of their tie against AZ Alkmaar, before losing 4-0 in the away fixture.
After such a commendable European showing, Noah will hope to become a regular feature in the competition and see if they can progress any further. To help them do this, they have ambitious future plans. As well as their brand new, state-of-the-art training ground, they are in the process of building a new 15,000+ seater stadium that will comply with UEFA standards for hosting European group-stage matches and national team games.
When built, it will be one of the most modern facilities in the Caucasus, featuring full media infrastructure, HD broadcast lighting, a high-quality pitch and advanced training amenities. They have even brought in experts from Qatar to supervise the grass and drainage systems. Current estimates indicate the first phase of the project will be completed in 2030, with the main stadium finishing soon after.
This infrastructure project, which is set to cost around $16m, is a large sum of money for a club whose record signing is the €230k they spent on Nardin Mulahusejnovic in 2025. Time will tell if the investment pays off, and Noah can cement themselves as the dominant force in Armenian football.
